Please vaccinate your buns against Myxi
It's that awful time of year again when the myxi is rife around the country Please, please, please check your buns are vaccinated against this and also check that your buns are not due their boosters - if they are then get them done as soon as you can
Reports are coming in from all parts of the country where buns have been lost to the myxi virus - many have not been vaccinated and have had to be put to sleep Lots of wild buns are also dying due to the virus
Remember, myxi is carried by all biting insects - so being an indoor bun is still not safe, you must vaccinate against it. 6 monthly jabs are now recommended due to the change in the weather in the UK.
Please also remember to do all you can to stop midges, flies, fleas etc. getting into your house or your buns accomodation - make sure that all containers that can catch water are emptied and turned upside down to stop the midges hatching and laying eggs. Put fly protection around the buns houses, hutches, sheds etc.
The most important thing to do is make sure the buns are all vaccinated against the myxi virus - if by chance a bun then does get myxi then it will usually be nodular myxi which is not as life threatening as full blown myxi The survival rates for full blown myxi are very, very poor
Thanks on behalf of all buns throughout the country and of course, the world |
